Dog the Bounty Hunter – Tragic Death Hits The Family Hard

Duane Chapman, AKA Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife Francie experienced a tragic death within their family. It went down in in Naples, Florida on Saturday. Read on for more details. Caution it involved guns, so here is your trigger warning.
A Tragic Death
On the weekend, TMZ reported that death came out of the blue, and now, Anthony Zecca, 13, is dead. Making it harder to bear is that Dog the Bounty Hunter’s stepson, Gregory Zecca, accidentally shot and killed his teenager son. Nobody was arrested yet, but police are investigating.

The outlet reported that a representative who spoke for the family told the outlet, “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.” Of course, for now they would like some privacy as they deal with unbearable pain.
Who Was Anthony?
Anthony and his dad, Gregory, are not related to Dog the Bounty Hunter by blood. Francie and Dog married in 2021, after his beloved wife, Beth Chapman, died from cancer in 2019. Francie’s husband also passed away, and they bonded over their dual loss. Now, she lost her grandson and Dog obviously cared about him.
Some fans might recall seeing Greg “with Dog on his bounty hunting team alongside Chapman’s daughter, Lyssa.” One can only imagine the pain of shooting and killing a son. Police confirm that the death occurred, and they described it as an “isolated incident.”
Readers React To The Sad News
One of those people who saw the post on Instagram when TMZ shared the news, talked about the “weird” accidents that happen to the family, with another one writing, “This man’s entire family has been cursed for years and it’s pretty scary.”
A fan of Dog countered that by noting, “only one child died from an accident and that’s Barbara Kate. His newborn son died shortly after being born…14 kids and only one didn’t survive to adulthood…”
Here a few other reactions:
- “Freak Accident.” All firearms are considered locked and loaded at all times.
- Not supposed to ever handle guns around children or leave them accessible!
- There are no accidents when it comes guns, only negligence.
Few commenters sent in condolences, and most comments were about gun control, the type of people who keep guns, and the fact that Dog remarried. However, one person countered that by saying, “forget the relationship to the bounty hunter, the politics with guns, kid was my little brother’s best friend for over 5 years and the greatest guy too.”
