90 Day Fiancé star Akinyi Obala hails from Kenya, in Africa, and she and her husband, Benjamin Taylor, are visiting her home country with their baby girl. Unfortunately, it’s due to some devastating news that she shared on social media.
Devastating Time
“The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Rue, five months ago. So, the family met her for the first time. However, it was tinged with tragedy because Akinyi’s mom passed away. Notably, it seems as if her mom never met her grandchild before her passing.
In her Instagram post on Saturday, the reality TV star described the hectic effort that it took them to get back to her home. It involved driving six hours to get Rue’s passport. Then, they needed to consult an immigration attorney because Akinyi Obala still awaits her green card. But, they eventually made it to Nairobi.
Making The Most Of A Bad Situation
The bittersweet aspect came because her dad and other members of the family finally met Ben and Akinyi’s baby. In her caption, the TLC star wrote:
We came to send my mom off. We are filled with so much sorrow and yet we are also happy for the gift of family. My dad was able to hold his grandbaby, my sisters were able to hold her. We’ve cried a lot but we’ve also had little moments of laughter and being there for each other. The house feels so empty without her. Kenya feels so empty without my mom. And I don’t know what to do with all these empty sorrowful emotions I feel.
