The Bold and The Beautiful spoilers and updates reveal the show’s on the move after nearly forty years-but it’s not a move to another network or streaming only.
Nonetheless, the show’s executives have revealed a significant alteration for the enduring soap opera; this is a change that has been affecting other CBS programs throughout the years.
The Bold and the Beautiful has been a staple since 1987. Initially, the series was launched as a sister show to The Young and the Restless, which debuted a decade earlier in 1973.
Throughout the years, viewers have followed the Forrester family and their high-fashion empire through a variety of narratives.
For countless fans, this CBS soap has remained a reliable presence in their lives; yet, change is unavoidable, and the soap’s executives have revealed a significant shift on the horizon.
The Bold and the Beautiful is set to depart from Television City after nearly 40 years-Television City refers to a studio complex where numerous productions have been filmed over the years.
Since its debut in 1987, the soap has been filmed at the same studio complex in mid-city Los Angeles. However, as reported by Deadline, it is about to undergo a “multi-year, billion-dollar renovation and expansion”; nevertheless, production will remain in Los Angeles, which is also the setting for the soap.
This decision will ensure that the current crew stays employed and demonstrates the show’s commitment to keeping production in California.
The show is moving 2.5 miles northeast to Sunset Las Palmas Studios. Filming for the soap will commence in mid-August after the series concludes its summer break.
As highlighted by head writer and executive producer Bradley Phillip Bell, “It has truly been an incredible 38 years at Television City. This is where we have created over 9,600 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful.
Looking forward, we are thrilled to kick off this new chapter at Sunset Las Palmas Studios — continuing our production right in the center of Hollywood and the wonderful state of California.”
Furthermore, the show has many more tales to tell and scenes to film. Earlier this spring, the soap was renewed for three additional seasons, extending through 2027-28.
Before the move, The Bold and the Beautiful was one of the shows still filming at Television City after CBS Corp sold the complex in 2019. However, shows have been departing one by one as their leases expire.
A $1 billion renovation plan is said to be in progress, which will turn the area into a construction site for about three years. Meanwhile, The Bold and the Beautiful’s lease ended this year, which explains its relocation.
The last CBS show left at Television City is The Young & the Restless, on a multi-year lease and has no plans to move anytime soon.
Sunset Las Palmas has officially embraced the new soap. Recently, Sean Griffin, the Senior Vice President of Sales for Sunset Studios and Quixote, made a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome The Bold and the Beautiful to Sunset Las Palmas, where we are committed to providing top-notch service to guarantee that the entire cast and crew enjoy an outstanding experience.
Their renewed dedication to Hollywood during this crucial time serves as a significant symbol for the industry. We hope that others will take inspiration from their example.”
