Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates reveal fans might believe that Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) are just co-parents now, as the soap suggests.
However, the ongoing problems with their daughter Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) and the impending death of John Black (Drake Hogestyn) could lead Brady to return to Kristen once more.
Tensions have been high between Brady and Kristen for some time, especially after Rachel started sending threatening texts to Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) .
Things worsened when Rachel claimed she learned to deal with enemies from Kristen. The situation escalated when Rachel ran away and met her namesake and grandmother, leading to a kidnapping of Ava by Rachel’s grandmother with Rachel’s help.
After the kidnapping, Kristen and Brady decided Rachel should see a therapist; recently, Brady visited to celebrate Rachel’s birthday with an Alice in Wonderland theme.
However, only Kristen, Brady, and her uncle EJ DiMera (Dan Feurreriegel) were there because Rachel has no friends at school; she’s quite a handful and likely intimidates her classmates.
To make it special, Kristen and Brady organized a family night since no other kids came. Aunt Belle Black (Martha Madison) had to leave early to avoid any conflicts as a district attorney, which disappointed Rachel, but they tried to enjoy the party anyway.
It was surprising that little Rachel wanted EJ to join her celebration. Months ago, our source revealed that Rachel was the one who picked up the gun left by Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and shot EJ. Remember when Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) found the gun carelessly placed in a planter outside the DiMera mansion? That doesn’t seem like something Johnny would do.
If he chose not to shoot EJ, he would likely have taken the gun back to Roman; it seems odd for someone as smart as Johnny to leave the gun there. Rachel is clever, but a child her age wouldn’t think about hiding a weapon used in an attempted murder.
EJ, Kristen, and Brady were discussing the shooting when Rachel pretended to yawn and claimed she was tired and ready for bed. She even mentioned she could wait until morning to open her gifts, which is unusual for a kid.
After Rachel went to bed, Kristen and EJ kept arguing, and in her anger, Kristen knocked over a tea tray, causing a platter to crash to the floor. Rachel then rushed down to Kristen for comfort after having a nightmare about a gunshot; it’s strange for a little girl to dream about such things.
Kristen reassured Rachel, saying she accidentally bumped the tray-it seems more likely that Rachel felt guilty about the situation and pretended to be tired to escape it.
Her nightmare raises questions about whether she shot her uncle EJ, as our source suggested, or if Rachel knows who did it. EJ suspects Johnny is involved and thinks he’s protecting him, but he’s also accusing Kristen. If Kristen learns that Rachel shot EJ, she might cover for her-currently, Brady and Kristen are focused on supporting Rachel through her struggles.
With a criminal mother and an addicted father, Rachel has serious issues to deal with; they seem to be managing co-parenting well and are presenting a united front for Rachel. However, as they work together to help their daughter, Kristen and Brady might grow closer and blur the lines of co-parenting.
The stress surrounding Rachel is clearly drawing them closer, but then tragedy strikes again; in fact, two significant events are on the horizon.
We know that John’s death is imminent on Days of Our Lives, and Brady will be heartbroken over losing his father. Additionally, Kristen is likely to be affected by this news as well.
After all, John is not only the grandfather of her daughter Rachel, but Kristen also shares a romantic history with him. It’s been a while since that chapter closed; as Brady and Kristen find solace in each other during this difficult time, it could ignite some unexpected chemistry between them.
Brady told Belle about six weeks ago that he wished he didn’t feel attracted to EJ. He also mentioned his feelings for Kristen, comparing her to alcohol—tempting and harmful, something he needs to avoid. With Ava gone and his father John passing away, Brady might reconnect with Kristen, especially if they find out their child shot EJ.
This week, Marlena receives a hopeful call about John, but her hope fades quickly when it’s revealed that John has been in an explosion, and it doesn’t sound good. The DOOL weekly preview shows a dramatic scene where it seems a presumed fill in actor playing John, possibly Paul Narita, (Christopher Sean) Andrew Donovan (Colton Little) and Orpheus (George delHoyo) fighting.
John’s departure was left open-ended to allow for the possibility of Drake Hogestyn returning, had he survived; with Kristen there to support Brady, it’s uncertain how their relationship might develop.
Many people form connections during times of loss, like after a funeral, as it can feel life-affirming-statistically, there is a notable increase in births nine months after a family member passes away. After experiencing significant loss, Brady may seek comfort, and Kristen, who deeply cares for him, would be eager to reunite.
Their daughter Rachel would also be happy to see her parents together again, especially since she has been acting out due to this desire. Thus, John’s passing and Rachel’s behavior could lead to a reunion between Kristen and Brady; we’ll have to wait and see.
