CBS Celebrates Daytime Milestone – Sitting Pretty At The Top For 39 Years

CBS continues to sit on top of the mountain as the network recently celebrated a major milestone as the most-watched network in daytime for 39 seasons in a row. In fact, they have won the daytime ratings race every week during this time, except for one.

The home of The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as the brand-spanking-new Beyond the Gates, continues to keep fans on the edge of their seats! More highlights on this, below.

CBS Daytime Celebration!

The competition in the land of daytime continues. After all, the network not only competes with other cable lineups, but also streaming platforms, too. With that said, below are some ratings highlights that CBS is celebrating.

CBS has sat at the number one spot since the 1986/87 season.

Its weekly top-spot streak began in 1988, the week of October 3. It’s lasted for 1,500 weeks straight, other than the interruption from July 22-29, 1996, when NBC scored the top spot for the Atlanta Summer Olympics. Since then, CBS has maintained its #1 streak, 28 years and eight months!

The network homes the top three daytime shows on TV, with The Price Is Right at number one, with The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful, at numbers two and three, respectively! These shows average viewer audiences of 2.76m. In fact, for 13 straight seasons, since 2012/13, the above three daytime shows have ranked as the top three for 571 of the 615 weeks.

The Y&R has been the number one soap for over 36 years and 1,878 weeks in a row, averaging 3.29m viewers, while the B&B averages 2.79m viewers.

More CBS Stats!

Meanwhile, another popular daytime game show, Let’s Make A Deal, has averaged 2.21m this season. Plus, the newest addition to CBS’s daytime lineup, Beyond The Gates, the first soap to debut on the air in 25 years, has increased viewership by 48 percent from last year at the same time, averaging 1.82m viewers.

It sounds like CBS has a ton to celebrate! Share your thoughts on this below! Tune into the CBS soap daily so you don’t miss a moment of the drama and visit this site often for the best Young and the Restless spoilers, updates, and news.
