The Young And The Restless Lily Brooks O’Briant Shares Her Endometriosis Diagnosis Through New Documentary
The Young and the Restless spoilers note that Lucy Romalotti has had to deal with a fair share of issues in her young life, and now it turns out that her portrayer, Lily Brooks O’Briant is sharing a struggle she too has had to deal with, too.
The soap star’s latest project is a documentary aimed to increase awareness about endometriosis, a condition O’Briant has been diagnosed with.
The Life Of An Endometriosis Warrior
O’Briant has struggled with endometriosis since the age of 13 but had been undiagnosed for some time. In 2023, the young actress was diagnosed and had surgery to remove 21 endometriosis adhesions.
This condition affects millions of young females, including the Young and the Restless star, along with Hannah, her younger sister.
Now, O’Briant has helped create an endometriosis documentary titled, ‘Silent Suffering: How Endometriosis Affects Teens’ to help others who struggle with the condition.
Leading The Way
O’Briant produced the documentary while Hannah directed it. In ‘Silent Suffering’, doctors offer information about the condition’s diagnosis and treatment options. In addition, teen girls, including Hannah and O’Briant, share their battles with the disorder.
A video clip on Instagram shows O’Briant crying in a hospital bed as a message is shown across the screen. It reads, “Endometriosis is considered one of the Top 20 most painful conditions in the world. But some men still have the audacity to say, ‘it’s made up.”
In part of the caption, the actress states. “I was told over and over by doctors and people I encountered that my pain wasn’t real or that it was ‘normal’ period pain. The reason I speak up about Endometriosis is to tell you that the pain you are in isn’t normal.”
She goes on to say, “My sister @hannah.hope.obriant & I created a short documentary about how endometriosis affects teens – an area often misunderstood & overlooked.”
She adds, “Teens especially are dismissed as overreacting or having anxiety & not trusted to communicate pain levels.” Fans can check out O’Briant and Hannah’s documentary on YouTube.
