Beyond the Gates has just premiered this past week. It has a star-studded cast, including many faces soap fans remember. While Karla is currently playing Dani on BTG, she does have a history with another soap… The Bold and the Beautiful.
B&B Gig
In 2013, Karla took the role of a new character on B&B. That role was Maya Avant Forrester. After playing the role for a few years, there was a change to Maya’s character.
Maya was going to come out as transgender. Once Mosley learned that the character was going to suddenly be transgender, the actress had to think about whether to continue the role.
Karla Mosely Explains
The Beyond the Gates star explained to People that she had to take some time to think about whether to continue the role of Maya. At first, the actress decided to say no. Mosley explained that she felt it would be inappropriate for her to play a transgender character.
The actress clarified that she identifies as queer but is not transgender.
Eventually, Mosley changed her mind and decided to continue playing Maya with the new changes. Karla came to this new decision after speaking about it with some friends.
The actress recalls that her friends told her that if she didn’t play this part, then the story just wouldn’t get told.
While she did play the part for a time, eventually, the actress decided it was time to stop. In the interview, Karla explained,
“At a certain point it really became truly inappropriate for me to play that role. That’s why I stepped away from it. So no, I will not be playing another trans role.”
Dani Dupree on BTG
As for Karla’s current role, she plays Dani on Beyond the Gates. Dani is one of two daughters of Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie).
Dani is considered the wild child of the Dupree family. The character is described as uninhibited, headstrong, charismatic, and a free-spirit. As an adult, Dani plays “momager” to her kids’ careers.
