The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Traci’s Silver Lining, Beth Maitland Talks Alan/Martin Twist
The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that fans are pretty torn up over Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) destroyed love story. While the actress does admit it’s heart-wrenching, she also said there is a silver lining at the end. So, keep reading and let’s get started talking about what Beth had to say about her character’s storyline.
Long Overdue Love Story
Traci is a loved character and while she’s enjoyed family and professional success, the book author hasn’t been so lucky in love. That all seemed to change toward the end of Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) dissociative identity disorder (DID) storyline. Alan promised to get Ashley help, and he did. As Ashley entered inpatient treatment, Traci stayed with Alan in Paris.
Martin Laurent’s Death
The two became close, and Traci was even there after Alan supposedly survived a deadly fall with his psychopathic twin brother, Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins). Alan asked Traci to move in pretty quickly. Despite that, Alan traveled a lot for speaking engagements. Even though there seems to be some physical distance between them, Alan and Traci seemed so happy! Fans were thrilled!
Kidnapping Experiment Revelation
After Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) were rescued, fans learned the kidnapper was Alan/Martin. Clearly, this must be Martin, which means Alan likely didn’t survive the fall.
Now that Traci realizes that her fiance could be the double kidnapper, she is horrified. Traci also understands that this could also mean Alan is actually Martin.
Beth Maitland Interview
The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that Beth spoke with Soap Opera Digest about the storyline. Although fans are pretty upset about Traci’s love story falling apart, the actress loves the “super-juicy” twist.
Maitland explained that this is the first time Traci has become suspicious of Alan. Plus, she is a writer, which means she already has a naturally active imagination. Things are clicking into place and the dots are connecting. Traci is seeing big red flags everywhere.
Traci Abbott’s Silver Lining
Maitland also explained that Traci will spin into crisis mode. The actress explained,
“… because not only is this late-in-life, absolute surprise of happiness being completely yanked out from under her, it also indicates that there are threats that she feels responsible for, to both Sharon and Phyllis, and to her sister Ashley.”
As for the silver lining,
“The good news is that we start from the perspective that Traci already has a life she loves. She has people that matter to her, she has purpose, and she has a career that she also loves.”
