Days of Our Lives news and updates reveals more behind the scenes changes at the Peacock soap. The show’s co-executive producer has announced her upcoming retirement and a senior producer is succeeding her.

Janet Drucker Retiring

More changes are happening behind the scenes at DOOL; co-executive producer Janet Drucker has announced her upcoming retirement, with her final day on the show set for May 2, 2025. The show has appointed Noel Maxam, the current senior producer, to take over her position, stating in a press release that Maxam “will smoothly transition into the co-executive producer role.” Drucker became co-executive producer in 2023 after being promoted from her previous position as coordinating producer.

This followed the departure of Co-Executive Producer Albert Alaar due to allegations of inappropriate conduct on set. This led to an internal investigation and a lawsuit from former star Arianne Zucker (ex-Nicole Walker Brady).

Drucker Started At The Soap Over Forty Years Ago

Drucker began her career at the soap more than forty years ago as a production associate. Throughout her time there, she has contributed to a production team that won three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Daytime Drama. She is the fourth woman in the show’s history to achieve the title of co-executive producer. In a statement, Drucker expressed, “It has been a great honor and a wonderful experience to leave my mark in Salem over the past 41 years. I will always view this show and everyone connected to it as my second home, but now I need to prioritize my family.”

Maxam, a multiple Daytime Emmy Award winner for his directing, started his career as a writer. First, on As the World Turns before moving on to become a producer and director for The Young and the Restless. He joined the DAYS team in 2008 and served as the co-executive producer from 2011 to 2012.

Executive Producer Ken Corday expressed gratitude for Drucker, saying “Janet began her journey with us as a production associate and worked her way up, becoming a vital part of our leadership team. She has been a supportive force behind the scenes, and her positive impact will be remembered. We are truly thankful for her commitment, talent, and passion.”

Corday Also Praised Maxam

Corday expressed his trust in Maxam, stating, “Noel offers a remarkable combination of creative insight, technical skills, and leadership experience. His thorough knowledge of the genre and calm presence behind the scenes make him the perfect candidate to guide us ahead.” Last July, the show underwent another significant change by replacing head writer Ron Carlivati with the duo of Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford. Due to the show’s fast-paced shooting schedule, their work has not yet been broadcast but will be soon.
