Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers indicate some major bombshells that will drop during the week of March 17-21. A leading man is set to return; however, news also hit this week about another leading man’s exit.

Welcome Back, Shane Donovan!

Actor Charles Shaughnessy will reprise his legendary Shane Donovan role, starting this Monday, March 17. Fans must note that this run will be a short one this time around. Viewers can expect to see Donovan in scenes with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) as they demand answers about John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) disappearance.

Donovan will also be seen with his daughter, Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien) during the Wednesday,

March 19 episode as he delivers some bad news.

Shaughnessy has been playing the iconic ISA agent, on and off on Days, since 1984. In addition, he played Shane’s evil twin brother, Drew, in 1988 and 2017. The actor reprised both roles in 2021 for the Peacock special, Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.

Goodbye, Billy Flynn

Meanwhile, some shocking casting news hit the airwaves this past week as Days of Our Lives fans learned that Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) was exiting the soap and heading to The Young and the Restless. While an airdate for Flynn’s arrival in Genoa City has yet to be announced, as well as the character he’s playing, he will continue to be seen on Days for quite some time.

Reports reveal that due to the daytime drama’s film schedule, which shoots months ahead of broadcast, Flynn will be seen as Chad DiMera into 2026.

Will Chad exit storylines or be recast? Only time will tell. Flynn was a Chad recast, and entered the role in 2014, taking over from Casey Deidrick.
