The Young and the Restless Courtney Hope & Jason Thompson Talk Fan Backlash Over ‘Silly’ Romance

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers indicate that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) are heating daytime screens everywhere now that they’ve solidified a romance.

The two bonded after Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) cheated on them, and while some fans are over-the-moon about the new Genoa City super couple, others aren’t overly happy with the pairing.

Hope & Thompson Love Working Together

Y&R stars Hope and Thompson recently caught up with Soap Opera Digest (SOD) to talk all things “Silly” (the ‘ship name fans have given them), and both revealed how much they enjoy working together.

Thompson states that Hope is, “one of the most playful, sweet, kind, actresses you’re ever going to work with.” Meanwhile, Hope said that she was excited from the moment she found out the two were going to be working together as she respects Thompson’s work.

Addressing The Potential Of ‘Silly’

Both Hope and Thompson believe the Sally and Billy romance has potential, with Thompson noting he’s, “personally a big fan of the two of them together”.

When addressing the mixed reaction from Y&R viewers, Hope stated, “Everyone’s got who they love,” adding, “… I think, you know, if they loved the couple that each of us were with before, they’re going to [be] screaming from the rooftops about that …. They weren’t going to be happy about this! And I think that’s natural.”

She also adds that some fans may come around to eventually, liking ‘Silly’ together. Hope told SOD, “I love seeing people, flip, too. That’s super fun. Like, they’re super gung-ho about one thing, and then you have one episode, and all of a sudden, they’re like, your biggest fan!”

Thompson noted that if fans were rooting for Adam and Sally, then it’s natural for them to dislike Silly. After all, Thompson stated that Sally was good for Adam.

He also recognizes that Silly could just be a blip in the road, a storyline in a bigger storyline. Only time will tell if these two have the staying power that it takes to be a top GC super couple
