The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Claire Grace’s (Hayley Erin) first notice of her great aunt was simply a scare.
She told Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) that hearing about Ian Ward (Ray Wise) stirred terrible memories. Still, viewers knew that the wigged Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) was really in Crimson Lights when Claire believed she spotted her.
Jordan is working on borrowed time. She knows Ian won’t accept Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) disappearance for long. Her prominence in this Midwestern city means that her car’s plunge into a river would be reported, and eventually, her presumed dead body would be found or washed ashore.
But Jordan is holding Sharon hostage as a form of leverage that she hasn’t fully reconciled in her mind. Whatever level Ian is working on, Jordan’s equally deranged mind is operating a line below or above.
Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) is conflicted. She has no idea that Ian drugged her, with fans wondering why no one thought to check Society’s security system.
Video would show that Ian took Tessa’s water bottle and poured a powdery drug into it. That led to her shortness of breath, and Ian appeared to save her life by offering an inhaler.
His claims of carrying an extra inhaler are as bogus as his purported redemptive status. He’s the biggest hypocrite in Genoa City, Wisconsin. Incredibly, he makes Jordan look better than him.
Jordan is behaving recklessly, which suggests that her time as a free woman may be running short. However, the greater foreshadowing involves Claire thinking back across time.
Viewers saw a black-and-white retrospective that dated back to when they first met Jordan at the cabin. At that time, Claire was under her control and hadn’t revealed her identity.
Thankfully, Jordan’s plan to kill multiple members of the Newman family and her nephew, Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck), never happened. Claire turned on Jordan after learning that she lied about her parents, Cole and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), abandoning her at birth.
So, seeing the woman she believes is Jordan at Crimson Lights for a second time, calling her out by name, and following her elevates the plot to crescendo.
It would be a significant stretch to assume Claire will perish at Jordan’s hands. The reverse is far more plausible, such as Jordan returning to jail.
What happens to Jordan’s accomplice is also intriguing. The tension between these brilliantly crafted and delivered villains is intense, and I want to give the deepest kudos to Y&R’s writing staff and the glorious actors who portray them.
Besides the coming climax, fans can wonder if Zenk and Wise will vie for a Daytime Emmy in the Supporting Actor category. Each already deserves to be part of the nomination group, but the ending to this storyline hasn’t even been seen yet.
