General Hospital Spoilers: Best Recast Of 2024 Was ……?
General Hospital spoilers indicate that General Hospital has had a few recasts this year. While Alexa Havans (Lulu Spencer) has only appeared in a handful of episodes so far, it seems that she is going to do an amazing job.
But since she hasn’t been on that much, let’s focus on another fairly recent recast that seems to be going well. That person is Van Hansis as Lucas Jones. Recasts have a tough job in the best of circumstances, and Hansis had to handle some pretty difficult scenes right from the start.
General Hospital Spoilers – Ryan Carnes last played Lucas Jones
Lucas has been away for a few years now, although Ryan Carnes did come back for a few episodes earlier this year for Bobbie Spencer’s (the late Jaclyn Zeman) funeral.
Carnes’ version of Lucas was involved in some pretty big storylines before he left town. Lucas finally left town and divorced Brad Cooper (Perry Shen) after Brad’s schemes will Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) were revealed. Lucas moved to Boston where he focused on his career and is now a fairly successful surgeon.
GH Spoilers – Lucas Jones had operate on his own sister!
Lucas took a position at General Hospital and immediately made sure Brad knew that there would be nothing between them going forward. But Lucas had other issues to deal with. His sister, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) was revealed to be a liver donor match for Lulu. Sam agreed to be Lulu’s donor but insisted that Lucas be the one to do the surgery despite the conflict of interest that would bring. But Sam signed all the necessary waivers and so Lucas performed the surgery.
General Hospital Spoilers – Sam McCall died in recovery
In a tragic turn of events, Sam died not long after being moved to recovery. Of course, Lucas blamed himself. So did Sam’s son, Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn). Danny lashed out at Lucas right before the funeral causing Lucas to run out before the service began. Hansis has done a great job with such heavy material write out of the gate.
We felt Lucas’ pain as he tried to go over every detail of the surgery to find any mistake he could have made. We also felt relief right along with him once he was cleared of any wrongdoing. From the looks of it, Van Hansis will do great things as Lucas Jones going forward.

Van is doing a great job. He seems to be settling in and he’s believable in the role. BUT…I love and will always miss Ryan Carnes. Not necessarily as Lucas, but as any character at all.
