General Hospital Spoilers: Alexa Havins Did Zero Research To Get Ready to Play Lulu Spencer

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that a new era dawns in Port Charles, New York when Alexa Havins debuts as Lulu on Monday, November 18.

It’s been a long time since fans saw Lulu in action, and her last portrayer was Emme Rylan, with Julie Marie Berman handling the role prior to Rylan.

Havins talked to TVLine about her debut and what’s ahead for Lulu. Here’s what you need to know about the exciting changes coming to your favorite daytime drama.

General Hospital spoilers: Lulu Wakes Up

Havins said that she intends to make the character her own with a unique spin while keeping Lulu’s “essence.”

Before coming to GH Havins played Babe on All My Children. She’s used to the fast pace of daytime and we expect her to jump into her new role and hit the ground running.

Havins told the outlet that “In no way, shape, or form do I want to mimic the other two ladies. I’m not trying to be them in any way. Julie’s Julie and Emme’s Emme. Obviously, it’s going to be a more mature version of her, and I’m me, and I can’t be them.”

She added that she knows that “Lulu is a spitfire.”

Havins did not watch Berman or Rylan prior to filming as Lulu. But she knows that the character “loves her mother, but she’s her father’s daughter. She takes huge chances. I just want to make sure that I’m bringing the essence of who she is.”

Many actors check out their new character by dipping into the old vault and watching video of what’s come before. So why didn’t Havins do her research?

“I didn’t watch clips or anything like that because I didn’t want to try to go that route. Her relationships with the pivotal people in her life is high priority to me. How does she connect with her mother?

How is she connecting with her brother [Lucky, played by Jonathan Jackson]? Where is she with Dante [Dominic Zamprogna] that chemistry and spark has to still be alive.”

Havins is right in saying that Lulu’s relationship with Dante is key to her story. She noted that filming with Zamprogna has gone well but did not spell deets about Lulu’s big comeback.
