Days of our Lives Spoilers: A Sad Homecoming

Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) return home for the holiday to be with family — and give Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) a piece of their mind.

Jennifer is furious to see that Cat is out of jail after what she did to her family. Impersonating Jennifer’s dead daughter was beyond the pale. Jennifer lays into Cat for her trickery and slaps her across the face. Then, the real bad news arrives.

Jack goes upstairs to wake Doug William (Bill Hayes) from his nap and discovers that Doug has passed away in his sleep. He tells a shocked and devastated Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) the news.

Julie walks upstairs and holds her husband’s hand as she cries and remembers their life together. Julie has no idea how she is going to live without the man she was with for more than half a century.

Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) are also back in town for Thanksgiving and are a source of comfort to Julie. They acknowledge that Doug and Julie had always been the perfect couple and one to emulate. Eli embraces his grandmother and promises to be there for her.

Hope Learns Her Dad is Dead

Jennifer has the unenviable task of calling Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso) in Greece to tell her that her father is dead.

Hope and Shawn-Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer) comfort one another as they realize they must leave a comatose Bo Brady’s (Peter Reckell) side and return to Salem to say goodbye to Doug.

Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) informs Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) that Doug has passed. Marlena is stunned. Doug and Julie are two of her very best friends, as Doug sang at several of Marlena’s many weddings.

Expect to see tons of flashbacks as characters remember their time with Doug. Others will arrive in the next few weeks for a big sendoff in December that will spark a brand-new story for Julie.
