Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers indicate that with the passing of Drake Hogestyn, fans need to brace themselves for his character, John Black, to exit storylines.
The show recently revealed its highly anticipated winter preview video at its annual “Day of Days” fan event, and it looks like this is already in motion. There’s a clip where Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) states John has gone missing.
So, how does John go MIA, and what’s the reason behind it?

Days spoilers remind fans that John recently learned he was the reason behind Catharina Meleounis’ (last played by Ellie Patrikios), Konstantin Meleounis’ (John Kapelos) daughter’s death.
This tore him inside; however, loved ones reminded him this was during his brainwashed “Pawn” days.
Now that the truth has been revealed, everyone knows that Catharina is alive, and the mother of the Greene kids, John may take matters into his own hands to try and rescue Catharina from Clyde Weston (James Read).
Days Spoilers: Catharina Returns Home Safely – John Goes MIA
DOOL fans were shocked to learn about Drake Hogestyn’s passing in early October of this year. The soap legend passed away just shy of his 71st birthday of pancreatic cancer.
As his final episodes aired in September, it seems as if Drake had to leave DOOL to battle his condition.
Could John leave Marlena a note once he finds out about Catharina’s situation, looking to save her and reunite her with her children? What if he finds out she went “underground” to escape the “Pawn”, and he feels as if he owes her?
John could save Catharina from her hostage situation offscreen and send her on a plane home. She may arrive mysteriously on her own in Salem and reunite with her family.
This could play out multiple ways, but a likely scenario is that the two were rushing to the plane to escape thugs, and John helped Catharina onboard before he could make it himself. Then again, John could rescue Catharina, and place her on a plane to Salem, but stay behind to help authorities deal with her kidnappers.
John will go “missing”, and either be presumed or declared dead later as the storyline unfolds. Fans should also brace themselves for a tribute episode at some point in 2025.
