The storyline took a turn when Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) returned from Paris with surprising news for Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).

He revealed that the woman Chad had married was not Abigail, but rather a woman named Catherina, affectionately known as “Cat.” Cat not only opened up to Chad but also revealed that her name comes from her mother, Catherina Meleounis, who is the daughter of Konstantin Meleounis (John Kapelos).

Catherina’s survival from that pivotal night all those years ago brought a wave of relief, revealing that John was not to blame for her death. The show recently clarified John’s absence, stating he was away on a trip with his father.

John had struggled with guilt over killing Catherina ever since Konstantin set his revenge scheme in motion, trying to revert him to the Pawn. Hogestyn, known for his iconic role as John Black for almost four decades, sadly passed away on September 28, 2024; the cherished actor’s last appearance on screen was on September 9.

Marlena later met up with Eric Brady (Greg Vaughn) at The Pub, where Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) had just come to terms with earlier deception regarding her father’s death.

The mother and son shared a heartfelt moment before Eric prepared to head back to Paris. As she expressed how much she would miss him, Marlena relayed a message from John, who wanted Eric to know he loved him and would miss him too.

She also mentioned that John had discovered something significant that he was still trying to understand, promising to update Eric on it later. When Eric inquired if everything was alright, Marlena’s response was unexpectedly heartfelt; “Everything is more than okay. It feels like we’ve experienced a little miracle.”
