Mealor’s character questions whether the love he thought existed in his family was ever real. It might not have been, but there is a caveat. The Moustache might not be the only person playing three-dimensional chess.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is loving the dissent he’s seeing. His recent talk with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) was also chilling.

The Moustache told Adam that he expects Kyle to eventually disappoint him. This confirms that Victor has no interest in Kyle’s welfare despite serving as a mentor when Mealor’s character was a boy.

Victor’s life in Genoa City, Wisconsin, is transactional. He’s using Kyle to attack Jack and Diane. They’ve appeared to take the bait and are at each other’s throats.

Months ago, Kyle dumped his wife. The love of her life blindsided Summer Newman (Allison Lanier). She never anticipated he would end their marriage. But that happened because he couldn’t get past her protecting Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).

Summer learned that her mother faked her death and framed Diane. That triggered, a cliché to be sure, Kyle. The emotional wounds Kyle suffered in childhood due to Diane’s faked death were directly tied to him believing Summer betrayed his trust.

Divorcing Summer led to him cavorting with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver). Both were mistakes. That’s why Claire’s emergence in his life offers some hope.

Diane pulled off her death hoax and then regained Jack and Kyle’s trust decades later. So, could it be that she’s faking again?

Jack and Diane could be conspiring. Then again, Diane might be freelancing solo. That would be the more intriguing storyline. Viewers should soon know what, if any, reveal happens.

It is not out of the question to believe Diane is so infuriated by Victor’s diabolical leveraging of Kyle’s anger that she’s faking a new scheme. She pretends to have a falling out with Jack and then goes after Victor.

All of the above would be aimed at waking Kyle up and proving a point to her two-time ex-husband, the head of Newman Enterprises. It is a stretch to believe Jack is not involved, but it is plausible. Either scenario is also good soap.
