The sight of Hope tripping and falling onto John Finn Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) was topped by that unlocked door opening and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) glaring. Telling Hope to get off her husband was also just the beginning.

Hope’s memory was in play when she quickly changed and intended to wait for Carter. She disregarded her mother’s wise advice about being careful at work earlier that day.

That type of reckless behavior is precisely what Steffy has been talking about, and now, Hope’s armed her with what appeared to be damning evidence.

Why would Finn go into the design room?

He knows that Steffy is rarely there, except when she verbally berates Hope. Yet, he needed to find a sticky note on that desk rather than ask Pam Douglas (Alley Mills) or Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) for one at the executive assistant’s combined desk.

Finn could have gotten a lemon bar from Pam because, apparently, her creation is to die for. Of course, Novlan’s character would have had to take an extra swim to burn off those calories.

Instead, he knocked the pencil container over, and Hope thought Carter was there. Viewers wondered if Novlan practiced that accidental knock. It wasn’t perfect, but it was believable. The episode-ender with Steffy ordering Hope off Finn was perfectly soapy as well.

Steffy was surprised that Carter spoke aggressively to her. But she soon recognized that Hope had influenced him.

Dealing with Hope through the years of Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) taught Steffy many lessons. That experience made her realize that Hope can’t be underestimated, especially where men are concerned.

Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) cut Hope off. Steffy was relieved but didn’t consider that Carter would come next. His impassioned support for Hope for the Future puts him and possibly his position at Forrester Creations at risk.

While not intentional, what happened with Finn is the story’s next flashpoint, and Carter is Hope’s self-appointed defender.
