General Hospital (GH) spoilers show that time is running out for Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). We learned weeks ago that the character will exit the canvas, and that has made a lot of fans angry, confused and upset.

Since the initial news drop, we’ve learned more about this delicate situation. Kelly hinted on social media that her firing was “retaliation” and stated that an announcement from her would be forthcoming.

Monaco has been with ABC for decades and it wasn’t immediately clear why the show chose to let her go. In the absence of an official explanation, the rumor mill has been lit.

One rumor purports that Executive Producer Valentini was not pleased with Kelly’s comments after he firing of her on and off screen partner, Billy Miller (Drew Cain).

A sizable portion of the GH audience is livid that Monaco was let go and have suggested that the decision be reversed. There is precedent for that, as once upon a time Rebecca Herbst (Liz Webber) was fired, but the fan outcry was so strong that the show backed down and let the character remain in PC.

Viewers expressed themselves in the comment section of the latest General Hospital preview video. The general consensus is that the audience is unhappy with Monaco’s departure and Valentini’s role in it.

One Instagram user wrote “Writing off Sam taking her life . Kelly Monaco deserves better . Frank Valentini has ruined over 60 years of greatness to nothing . Fire Frank Valentini. Bye gh”

Another person wrote “Can we start a petition to fire Frank he’s been holding a grudge since Kelly made a statement about being disappointed with how they let Billy Miller go.

And her storylines started shrinking and her character became more of a soccer/stay at home mom. Something Sam was not.”

Frank Valentini previously worked with ABC’s One Life to Live as executive producer, writer, and director and he has brought several One Life to Live actors to PC.
