The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is open to falling back in love with Claire Newman’s (Hayley Erin) father. Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) is moving back from England, which says it all.

Peck’s character hadn’t been on the show in years. His return to Genoa City, Wisconsin, came when Claire was revealed as his aunt’s accomplice.

That plot device created a compelling reason for Cole to return and be needed. He was also present, so Claire’s mind-blowing revelation and metamorphosis happened while her parents were in the same setting.

Meanwhile, Claire slowly falls in love with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). He initially sees her as a friend but is also moving, seemingly quickly, to recognize the woman who could be his next soul mate.

Cole loved Victoria, which is why they were married. Together, they created a daughter. But Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) stole the girl they called Eve from them at birth.

As an aside, the casting department deserves praise for giving Zenk that short-term contract. The daytime veteran was an outstanding choice.

As for Zenk, her performances are at least worthy of Daytime Emmy nominations, if not the actual statue itself. She was incomparable, and the extension of her run was welcomed. Here’s hoping Cole’s aunt is seen again soon.

The end of Ashland Locke (another beloved daytime veteran, Robert Newman) meant that Victoria needed to revive herself, and she has. Enough time passed between Ashland attempting to kill her, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) accidentally killing him while protecting Victoria, and Cole’s arrival.

The synchronicity between Victoria and Cole is right. The timing aspect is also good soap because Claire’s miraculous return to the Newman family feels natural. She has fit right in and loves realizing the idealized version of her parents she longed for, but Jordan told her it did not exist.

Victoria is ready to love again, and while he’s not Billy, Cole is one of her great loves. In fact, Cole is a positive contrast to Billy’s erratic demeanor. Peck’s character is that of an introspective, principled, and professional writer.

Claire’s admission to her mother was sweet. She said that living with Jordan meant she never had the chance to pursue romance. So, in her mid-twenties, Claire is doing more than exploring love with Kyle.

Kyle is Claire’s first crush and potential first love. All is trending in the right direction for this seeming pairing.

Of course, this is soap. So, some drama could prevent Claire and Kyle from being together or developing their connection through a full-blown romance.
