The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) new hire might end up being more trouble than she’s worth! Phyllis Newman (Michelle Stafford) is always willing to play dirty against The Mustache, but will her stunts unleash some unwanted chaos?
Not too long ago, we speculated that Billy might soon team up with an ex at Abbott-Chancellor. After he let go of Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) quit, Billy found himself isolated in the executive suite, which was far from ideal given the company’s scale.
In the episode that aired September 13, one of Billy’s former flames suggests a collaboration-while Billy was at the bar in the Athletic Club, Phyllis approached him.
Having heard about the recent developments with Lily and Chance, she thinks her expertise could be just what Billy needs. Although he’s somewhat reluctant, she persists in making her case.
Phyllis highlighted her extensive executive background, having previously led companies like Jabot. She pointed out their successful collaboration in the past and shared several strategies to enhance the visibility of Abbott-Chancellor. Billy, intrigued by her ideas, then inquired about her thoughts on joining a company facing significant challenges.
He expressed his concerns that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) might be plotting to seize control of Abbott-Chancellor, indicating that Billy is preparing for a showdown with the formidable Victor Newman. While this situation might deter other job seekers in Genoa City, it only serves to excite Phyllis.
She thrives on challenges and practically beams at the opportunity to take on the Newman patriarch; moreover, Phyllis isn’t shy about boasting her readiness to play hardball.
While Billy doesn’t extend a job offer by the episode’s conclusion, the upcoming preview suggests he ultimately appoints her as his COO. This development leaves us anxious about the potential fallout-Victor, known for his ruthless tactics, has faced numerous adversaries in Genoa City over the years.
Although his rivals might claim victory in some skirmishes, they ultimately fall short in the grand scheme, as he consistently demonstrates a sharper intellect and a readiness to play rough. Phyllis knows this, which probably explains her decision to showcase her talent for underhanded tactics; it might just be the edge needed to stand a chance against Victor.
Given the circumstances, we can’t help but speculate on Phyllis’s next move and whether she might cross a line. This is the same woman who once staged her own death and set Diane (Susan Walters) up for murder as part of her revenge plot.
Not to mention, she attempted to run Christine (Lauralee Bell) down with her car years ago. If we were to make a prediction, it wouldn’t be surprising if Phyllis started digging around, perhaps even leveraging her hacking abilities.
She could uncover any illegal activities Victor might have been involved in recently that could land him behind bars.
As Audra (Zuleyka Silver) pointed out, Victor didn’t achieve his level of success without bending a few rules along the way. Viewers of the show are well aware that Victor has recently crossed a legal line.
In his quest for vigilante justice against Jordan (Colleen Zenk), he took matters into his own hands by imprisoning her in his wine cellar for the torment she inflicted on his family.
This act clearly qualifies as kidnapping-although his misdeeds have mostly remained under wraps, with only Michael (Christian LeBlanc) and Cole (J. Eddie Peck) privy to the truth. Could it be that Phyllis discovers this secret and threatens Victor with jail time if he doesn’t steer clear of Abbott-Chancellor?
A threat like that is unlikely to sway Victor, who would undoubtedly refute any accusations-so, let’s consider that Phyllis decides to escalate the situation. Picture her approaching Jordan, of all people, to validate the kidnapping claims.
Despite her disdain for Jordan due to the harm she caused Harrison (Redding Munsell) and the turmoil she inflicted on Summer (Allison Lanier), Phyllis might see an opportunity. If she believes Jordan holds the key to taking Victor down, she could take the plunge-yet, it’s hard to imagine Jordan acting without some incentive.
Unless, of course, the sheer satisfaction of seeing Victor imprisoned is enough for Claire’s (Hayley Erin) aunt.
But if that’s not the case, could Jordan be angling for Phyllis’ assistance in securing a transfer to a mental health facility like Fairview instead of languishing in jail? Would Phyllis be willing to play along with those terms? The idea of Jordan returning to the screen excites us, especially with Sharon (Sharon Case) potentially making her way to Fairview due to her current situation.
This could open the door for some captivating scenes between Jordan and Sharon, leading to intriguing plot twists. Moreover, if Jordan’s time in Fairview results in another escape, just think of the mayhem, and what kind of trouble might that spell for Phyllis and her loved ones?
