Days Of Our Lives Spoiler: Billy Flynn Reveals Major Changes In How The “Abigail Return” Storyline Was Originally Supposed To Unfold

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers note that while it seems Abigail DiMera (last played by Marci Miller) is back, as the mystery woman (AnnaLynne McCord) has made some sketchy phone calls since entering the DiMera mansion, fans aren’t so sure things are as they seem, anymore!

Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) recently had a chat with Soap Opera Digest (SOD) and revealed some tweaks to the storyline fans may not have realized.

DOOL spoilers suggest that while Chad is somewhat excited that Abigail is back, he’s also hesitant to get too excited. Especially in light of his wife’s “memory loss”. Flynn tells SOD that it was first written that Chad was going to be “all-in” about the mystery woman being Abigail, while Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) was going to “skeptical” about it all.

Flynn notes that the storyline unfolding this way never made sense to him, especially considering the connection Chabby had as a super couple.

He adds, “So the way I played it was that Chad was all-in believing that it was her, but when he finally sees her, it’s not the person he was chasing. If it is Abigail, he’s not getting back the Abigail he went looking for. So that’s the mindset I went into it with.”

Flynn goes on to tell SOD that he presented this interpretation to co-star Matthew Ashford, noting that the two talked about it all, and switched it up a bit.

Flynn notes that leading up to the DNA test, Jack was wary of it all and then switched to “all-in”, while Chad was all-in at first, and the began wondering about things. He states it’s because a father’s love for his daughter can be far more blinding in a circumstance like this one.

While fans understand there is a reason to doubt that the mystery woman is Abigail, they also know that Chad doesn’t know what they know. Flynn states that other reasons for Chad’s skepticism include the fact that DiMera knows the way his wife moves.

He goes on to say that even if a person looks different, they’ll still have “things” that can indicate they are who they claim they are. After all, wouldn’t this mystery woman have Abby’s mannerisms (i.e. the way she moves or touches her hair)?

Flynn adds that Chad is searching for something Abigail-esque in this mystery woman, but will he find it?
