Counting On: Jana Duggar Marries Stephen Wissman

Rumors that Counting On alum Jana Duggar was engaged to marry Stephen Wissman have been around for years, but finally, on August 15, she tied the knot in Arkansas. Three years ago, TLC fans thought that a wedding announcement was imminent, but it didn’t happen. Jim Bob Duggar’s oldest daughter, the twin sister of John David Duggar was 34 years old on her big day.

Jana Duggar Was A Mom To Her Siblings 

Because the Duggar girls usually marry young and breed children in line with the quiver-full movement, Michelle’s oldest daughter seemed unusual. Naturally, as her younger siblings married and started raising children, TLC fans speculated on her gender preferences. Now that she and Stephen Wissman tied the knot, that puts paid to the rumors that she might secretly be a lesbian.

At one stage, TLC fans believed that Jana Duggar might be courting one of the Bates boys from Bringing Up Bates on UPtv. However, nothing came of that. So eventually, Counting On fans decided that she would never marry. The attractive young woman seemed destined to raise her younger siblings and then fade away into middle age with nobody to love her. 

Counting On Star Ties The Knot 

People carried the story about the wedding, and no doubt, Jim Bob Duggar pocketed a few dollars for the story. According to the outlet, Stephen Wissman married his new wife in Arkansas, but the couple will move in together in Nebraska.

Jana Duggar comes from a family of 19 children, and Stephen Wissman has 12 siblings. So, the wedding was never going to be a small affair. Over 500 guests were present to wish the couple well. Interestingly, the wedding wasn’t in a church, and they tied the knot “at The Grand at Willow Springs.”

The former Counting On star told People:

Wow, this truly is something that I’ve dreamed of.’ And just to see it coming about is incredible and kind of hard to believe. It’s a dream come true…I haven’t always understood what the bigger picture is, but I know that God knows what is best for all of us. And so for me, it’s getting married later. Each of our stories will be written differently. If we were all the exact same, it would be a boring life. So I think it’s neat how God orchestrates.
