General Hospital Spoilers: Why Does Lucky Get a Pass on Being An Absent Father?
General Hospital Spoilers tease Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) is headed home to Port Charles soon, and the response from this announcement has fans quite divided.
On one hand, most of the longtime GH fans are thrilled and can’t wait for his big debut. On the other hand, a lot of fans are questioning how his return to town will be handled — and hoping it’s not too gentle.
That’s right. Some fans are questioning why Lucky would show his face back home at all. They don’t look kindly upon him for being absent for the majority of Aiden Spencer’s (Tristan Riggs) life, and they don’t accept the excuses about Lucky being such a great humanitarian that it excuses his alleged deadbeat dad status. Ouch!
General Hospital Spoilers — Going Way Back Now
Lucky has always been on the right side of things, for the most part, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had a few missteps along the way.
Some fans just can’t accept the idea of Lucky as a helpful humanitarian when he has children back home who need him. Yes, children. Technically, Aiden is his only child, but he was the only father Cameron ‘Cam’ Webber (William Lipton) ever knew as a young child, too. Cam’s biological dad, Zander Smith (Chad Brannon), is deceased.
The last time we saw Lucky was on the heels of him hiding the truth about Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) being Jake Doe — who turned out to be Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) anyway. Nonetheless, it’s safe to say not everyone in Port Charles is Lucky’s biggest fan.
GH Spoilers Suggest He May Not Be That Lucky
Lucky may not be able to easily escape the ghosts of his past just because he’s been gone for nearly a decade. Some of the citizens of Port Charles have a rather long memory.
But the fans haven’t really held it against him that he kept that secret about Jake Doe. Rather, they’re bitter that he abandoned his responsibilities.
He left Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) to fend for herself with three kids, knowing Cam and Aiden would have no other father and Jake Webber (Hudson West) would only have Jason — someone Lucky wasn’t always a fan of himself.
Of course, Jason doesn’t have much room to talk right now about anyone being an absent father. But the point is, Lucky may not get a pass just because everyone is happy to see him again — just as Jason hasn’t.
General Hospital Spoilers — Why, GH, Why?
Alas, the fans want answers. Sure, we don’t all see eye to eye. We don’t all agree on whether Natalia Ramirez (Eva LaRue) being a bigot is the best way to showcase such a storyline between mother and daughter.
Some fans just can’t see anything but Maria Santos (LaRue’s former role on All My Children). Others say they don’t want political issues brought into the show, but that’s never stopped GH — and that’s a cultural issue, as is Lucky being gone.
Everyone knows at least one person who grew up without their father. Why is Lucky painted as though he does no wrong when he barely sees his son and doesn’t really interact with Cam at all anymore?
Will we find out now that Cam and Aiden are old enough to tell him how they feel? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out!
