Flight attendants have many duties besides carrying food trays and looking pretty-they also play a major part in cleaning up the plane after the passengers de-board.

That’s where the resemblance to housekeeper Esther comes in; Kate works with United Airlines and discussed her side hustle with People Magazine at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards recently.

The soap opera actress shared her thoughts on working as a flight attendant, calling it both “crazy” and “amazing.”

She recounted a memorable encounter with a fan of The Young And The Restless during a lengthy layover in an interview with the publication.

At least the fan in question understood the difference between reel and real; recognizing her from the show, she approached her in disbelief and asked, “Kate Linder”?

As the Y&R star reminisced, she recounted the amusing exchange in great detail, like she’d memorized each line. “And I went, ‘Yeah,’ she goes, ‘No, you’re not.’ I go, ‘I was when I woke up, so I don’t know if something’s wrong.'”

The fan’s curiosity led her to question why Kate was dressed in her flight attendant uniform-Kate explained, “So anyway, she had had all these things happen due to bad weather.

She got diverted, she was in LA, she wasn’t even supposed to be there, all these things happened.” Despite the series of unfortunate events, the fan wound up thrilled because she realized that if it weren’t for those circumstances, she wouldn’t have had the chance to meet Kate Linder.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Her Flight Attendant Job Keeps Her Humble

Kate said her flight attendant job keeps her humble-then explained her scheduling, and how she manages to work such two dissimilar jobs.

Typically, she spends her weekends working with United Airlines, but occasionally, she has to make adjustments to accommodate her role on the beloved soap opera.

In such situations, Kate collaborates with her fellow flight attendants to switch shifts, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

She graciously mentioned, “Some of my colleagues kindly cover my trips, and in return, I do the same for them.”

Additionally, Kate shared her fondness for certain routes, including Denver, San Francisco, and the beautiful islands of Hawaii.

Kate continued, saying this is important because I have another job where I get to meet fans in person. It’s my favorite part because I can see their happiness and hear what they like-they often talk about watching Young and the Restless, which I find really great.

Sometimes it can be challenging to balance my flight attendant duties with interacting with fans, but I always make sure everyone is taken care of and happy during their flight.

When I first started working as a flight attendant, I had enough time off to pursue my acting career, but eventually, I realized I could do both and have ever since.
