General Hospital Spoilers report Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) was horrified when she overheard Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) talking about the potential for Heather Webber’s (Alley Mills) sentence to life behind bars to be revised.
Portia is still recovering from the trauma Heather put her family through — most notably, what she put Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) through.
She sees zero need for Heather’s sentence to be amended and can’t believe Laura, someone she considered a friend, would entertain such.
But no one was more shocked than Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), who definitely considered his longtime friendship with Laura to be of more importance to the good mayor than her sense of justice for the old friend she spies in Heather.
Is Laura being snowed by Heather? Will Curtis deliver on his threat to fight Laura on this every step of the way?
When Curtis stopped by Laura’s office, he was taken aback by the whitewashing of her recent behavior. He wanted so badly for his wifey to be wrong about Laura’s intentions.
He couldn’t wrap his head around the idea that she would want a psychopath like Heather to go free. Hearing Laura defend her decision to look into Heather’s medical records and advocate for justice on her behalf as though it was no big deal was the last thing Curtis expected to hear from Laura.
He left her office with the two of them hardly being on good terms and promising to fight every move she makes if she continues to pursue this avenue that could pose a threat to Trina or anyone else in Port Chuck.
Curtis’ head has been in the clouds a bit more since his meeting with Laura. He hasn’t forgotten about what she’s up to, but he may have simmered down just slightly since that shocking interaction with her.
Nonetheless, Portia isn’t going to let this go — even if other things rise to the top of Curtis’ list of priorities. Portia wants to keep her daughter safe; it’s pretty much all we ever hear about her, in fact.
Curtis, on the other hand, while he’s concerned about Trina, he’s also got a lot on his plate taking up the mantle of a new division at Aurora Media. He’s excited for the new future he never thought he would have and may not want to make waves with the mayor right now.
With Drew Cain Cameron Mathison) running for office, we expect there to be a lot of focus on the election season in Port Charles this fall.
With Drew running for office, some fans have speculated as to whether he might inspire Curtis to do the same — or even Portia. Won’t they have enough to do with their jobs though, considering Portia is also Co-Chief of Staff at GH now?
Maybe running for Laura’s seat as mayor is exactly how they plan to oust her from office? Could they convince Drew to support them? Will they all push Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) — the current Deputy Mayor — to try to unseat her boss instead?
With so many options, it’s hard to believe Curtis’ threat will land as a simple smear campaign. They’re certain to have more up their sleeve to stop Laura from paving the way to freedom for Heather. Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to see how this plays out.
