General Hospital spoilers tease Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is in for the fight of her life in trying to get her license back to practice law.
She can feel the remnants of her career as an attorney just inches from her grasp, but she knows it’s a very uphill battle getting there.
Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) might be the best of the best when it comes to legal counsel, but neither of them expected Neil Byrne’s (Joe Flanigan) brother — Fergus Byrne (Lane Davies) — to show up in protest of her reinstatement to the bar.
Arguing their case isn’t really the scariest part though — walking away from it and waiting on a decision is. How will Alexis pass the time as she awaits an answer regarding the rest of her life? We’re afraid the predictions aren’t good.
Molly Lansing Davis (Kristen Vaganos) was worried from the moment her mother told her of her plans to try to appeal her disbarment. She was concerned that if the appeal didn’t rule in her favor, she would hit the bottle as a means of coping with the reality that there is no hope of her ever being an attorney at law again.
But the truth is, Alexis is always at risk of relapse, and the anxiety of this appeal and the subsequent waiting period may be enough to bring her to her knees.
Having to walk away from this appeal hearing thinking Fergus made a strong case against her will be bad enough for Alexis to digest. Learning once she gets out of the courtroom that Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) has died will break her heart though.
Alexis may have fresh thoughts in her mind of Neil’s death as she tries to cope with his brother’s surprise appearance at her hearing. Compounding that with losing one of her best friends so unexpectedly could be too much for Alexis to bear.
Just prior to the appeal hearing kicking off, Diane had to talk Alexis into going through with it. She was ready to pack it in and go home without ever even trying.
It seems Alexis’ anxiety and fear of striking out could keep her out of the game if she doesn’t have strong people like Diane to pull her back from the brink.
When it comes to alcoholism, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) has been quite a rock for Alexis. But if the reliable friend she’s found in him is unavailable as he battles his own grief and addiction, will she succumb to dwelling in it with him — particularly if she’s convinced she bombed the appeal hearing and will never be a lawyer again?
