The Bold And The Beautiful Cancellation Looming In Light Of New CBS Daytime Drama Debut?

The Bold & The Beautiful (B&B) has been airing on CBS since 1987; however, with the recent announcement of a new soap opera set to hit the network, some are speculating that the daytime drama that centers around Los Angeles’s fashion industry could be on the chopping block.

“The Gates” Set To Debut On CBS Soon

CBS recently announced that it is collaborating with the NAACP to develop a daytime drama that centers around a predominately Black cast. Titled, The Gates, storylines will highlight the trials and tribulations of a wealthy Black family that lives within a gated community.

There are currently four soap operas that air for daytime drama fans, three on television networks. B&B, as well as the Young and the Restless (Y&R), broadcast on CBS, while General Hospital (GH) airs on ABC. Meanwhile, Days of Our Lives (DOOL) recently made a bold move, by leaving NBC to join the streaming service, Peacock.

Are B&B’s Days Numbered?

Fans can’t help but notice the writing on the wall. While the Y&R recently celebrated a four-year renewal with CBS, B&B has only been renewed with the network for one year, the 2024/2025 season. CBS has a jam-packed daytime lineup as it is, with The Price is Right airing before Y&R and B&B, and The Talk airing after the soaps. There is massive speculation that if The Gates is a 30-minute show, the show could easily be swapped for B&B, taking Bold’s timeslot in the CBS daytime schedule. Then again, if The Gates is a 60-minute soap, The Talk could be canceled, opening up a place for the new daytime drama to reside.

As of this writing, the network has not commented on the timeslot The Gates will have, how long the program will be, and whether or not they are planning to cancel either B&B or The Talk.
