Candace Cameron Bure To Star In Great American Family Mystery Series

After leaving the Hallmark Network behind for the Great American Family Network, Candace Cameron Bure will now star in a new mystery series from the latter.

Bure isn’t a stranger to the sleuthing genre. She previously played Aurora Teagarden on Hallmark, the fictional character created by writer Charlaine Harris, a librarian turned detective of sorts.

Hallmark launched the Aurora Teagarden adaptation in 2014 with the series still airing. The only difference now is the starring titular character will be played by Skyler Samuels who is best known for her roles in Wizards of Waverly Place, The Gates, The Nine Lives of Chloe King, and Scream Queens. Hallmark made the announcement last June.

Bure Will Portray Ainsley McGregor, A Chicago Criminologist

Now it looks like Hallmark will have some direct competition as Candace Cameron Bure is set to lead the Great American Family Mysteries, set to be a movie franchise.

The first series will feature Bure in the role of Ainsley McGregor. The former Full House star will star oppose Aaron Ashmore of Ginny & Georgia fame.

In the first installment of the series, entitled The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker, Ainsley moves to a small town in Texas where she opens an artisan market.

It isn’t long before Ainsley is pulled back into the world of crime after taking up a position as a criminology professor at a small local college. The Ainsley McGregor mysteries are an adaption of writer Candace Havens.

GAF To Announce More Mysteries In The Coming Weeks

Good American CEO Bill Abbott believes the addition of a mystery franchise is the perfect addition to the network. “We are thrilled to be in the business of telling fun, light-hearted stories featuring great characters, strong stories and a fun side of the mystery genre that fits perfectly with our licensed series strategy,” said Abbott.

“Our cozy mysteries are crafted in the heritage of the classic storytelling that has evolved since Agatha Christie coined the term in the 1930s and set the stage for one of the most popular genres of entertainment.”

The Great American Family plans to announce more information for additional mystery installments in the coming weeks.
