Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates tease Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) receive news about Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) and Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace). However, neither of them is buying what it says in Tripp’s coerced letter!
The dirty cop-possibly one of more dirty cops-at Salem PD, Officer Goldman (Kristy St. John) forced Tripp to “write a letter to mommy” while threatening to kill Wendy.
Goldman dictated what Tripp should write, with nothing different and nothing that could give anyone a clue anything was wrong.
No secret code language was going out in that letter to Ava on her watch, Goldman being on Clyde Weston’s (James Read) payroll.
But when Steve and Ava get the news, in the form of the coerced letter, possibly saying he and Wendy decided to move to China after all, neither is buying it. For one thing, as Steve notices, it doesn’t sound like Tripp’s wording-he doesn’t put things like that.
Steve thinks the letter is coerced, and Tripp was forced to write it, dictated by the kidnapper, under threats-and he is exactly correct.
Ava agrees but how will they find Wendy and Tripp and how will they rescue them. Steve decides, with Ava’s agreement, to bring John Black (Drake Hogestyn) in on the case-together, they’ll put together a rescue plan and try to back trace where the letter originated.
It’s kind of like trying to triangulate the signal from a burner phone, but it’s all they have to go on although it could have been mailed from far away.
If the kidnapper was smart enough to anticipate a mail trace then they would have taken the letter as far away from their location as possible.
Ava tries to stay calm but the situation is wearing her thin-what if they don’t find Tripp and Wendy in time, and they’re without food and water?
People can’t survive under such conditions but so long, and with Clyde behind their kidnapping, the prospects could be grim!
Steve and John reassure Ava that doing a mail trace would at least be a start and give them something to go on; the kidnapper wouldn’t go too far away.
Steve and John reason that even if the kidnapper went to a mailbox out of their area, it can’t be too far away; if it was they could lose control.
They have to be close enough to be in control of the hostages, in this case Tripp and Wendy, or they have no bargaining chip.
