Roger Howarth confirmed the news on his Insta, and SOD ran an interview with him, after a Friday Cliffhanger epi showed Austin bleeding out on the floor of his Pautuck, PA homestead.

After the epi aired, gobsmacked fans flocked to social media to speculate as to Howarth’s status with the show. Would Austin survive, or was he well and truly gone?

Gracious Howarth didn’t leave fans hanging, he cleared up the situation in a lovely Insta post in which he confirmed his exit and thanked his fans for their support and love over the years.

In an SOD interview he revealed that GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini had called him several weeks earlier to let him know of the show’s decision.

Austin was shot dead after speaking with the PCPD about turning in his crime boss, Cyrus Renault (Jeffrey Kober). Austin didn’t give up the name, and he never had a chance to, Cyrus saw to that!
