The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) believed she had her father’s favor. But Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) recent group summons at the Ranch laid high cards out on the soapy table for all to see.
Victoria did not receive the brunt of her father’s chiding, with her youngest brother, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), gaining that dubious distinction.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) went along with Victor’s initial intention to have him serve as one of the people who would watch over Adam in the new business setup.
So, Victoria believed she was not in the crosshairs and would not have to tolerate Adam’s nonsense.
Victor had a recent sit-down with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). Victoria’s choice for Chief Operating Officer was told that no matter what, a Newman would run the show.
Nate’s recent emergence as Victoria’s newest love interest concerned Victor because he believed that the relationship skewed his daughter’s business decision-making. Victoria has been waiting patiently, believing her dad would eventually agree with her view of Nate.
But Victor’s decision does not elevate Nate to the COO spot. Dominic’s character will have to accept that decision while also helping Victoria to deal with what that choice means.
Victor suffers from ongoing pangs of guilt. He feels Adam did not benefit from the full Newman experience like his other three children did.
There is no doubt that Adam’s arrival in Genoa City, Wisconsin, created an unwelcoming response. Victoria and Nick, in particular, were not pleased that their half-brother would be taking attention away from them.
Adam’s unique place in Victor’s life and the defensive persona he developed created a dysfunctional sibling dynamic.
However, Adam still has his father’s support, Abby Newman Abbott (Melissa Ordway) has never felt as negatively toward him as does her other siblings, and Nick would ideally like to have a brotherly relationship.
Victoria wants nothing to do with her brother. Her attitude stems from the belief that she was firstborn and is, by default, number one.
Victor is cautious regarding his youngest son’s claim of seeking redemption. However, it feels as though Adam may have recognized rock bottom because of Connor Newman’s (Judah Mackey) recent decision to leave GC, partially because Grossman’s character can not get along with family.
Adam may not be playing a game this time. Victor said if he is being sincere then he will be impressed. That sets up more angst for Victoria on Y&R.
