General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) is going to walk away from the process of becoming a bone marrow donor for Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) feeling like she has faith in living once again. Liesl has been rather distraught since losing her daughter, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), on New Year’s Eve. Following that, finding out her daughter died a heroine while saving another person’s life was painful for Liesl. While it lends some honor to Britt’s death, Liesl just wants her daughter back. She didn’t want to trade her for someone else’s life. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) heard Liesl’s pain loud and clear when she confided in her that she would do anything to trade Britt’s life for that of the person she saved. Of course, Liesl has no idea that Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks (Eden McCoy) was that person, and Carly never had any intention of telling her.
Willow has been trucking along through the ups and downs of her journey with leukemia hoping that the right opportunity to treat her cancer would come along at the right time to spare her family any further pain. That is about to happen. When Willow loses consciousness, her family is going to panic and it’s just hours shy of the procedure to receive Liesl’s bone marrow transplant. They’re going to rush Willow to the hospital in hopes that this won’t compromise her chances of going through with the transplant.
As they wait on the transplant procedure and pray that Willow survives the process itself, it’s going to be a long road afterward waiting to see if the treatment helps to battle Willow’s leukemia or if she’s lost this fight. It’s possible that the transplant just came too late and Willow isn’t going to make it through. As Liesl hopes for a better outcome, she’ll realize she’s hoping not only for Willow and her niece, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), but for herself, too. For the first time since before she lost Britt, Liesl has a renewed sense of purpose. Had she not been here, Willow would have died. Will she still?
As Liesl rejoices over the chance to believe in the miracle of life once again, she’s going to be brought right back to the pain she felt when she lost her daughter. Holding Britt as the life drained out of her was the hardest and most bittersweet moment of her life, and now she has to face the reality of why that moment happened. She wishes she could relish that her daughter died a hero, but learning she saved Joss and that Carly got to keep her daughter while Liesl lost her own is going to crush her faith in humanity once again. Liesl won’t bounce back from this without seeking her own form of justice. Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers just ahead.
