General Hospital’s Finola Hughes And James Patrick Stuart Weigh In On The Vanna Connection

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Anna and Valentin continuing to try to bring Victor down from their little safe house, but at least they are doing it together now that they are one of the most popular pairs on daytime.

General Hospital Spoilers – How Did Anna And Valentin Get Here?

GH toyed with the idea of an Anna and Valentin pairing for years, but the stars didn’t seem to align with it until 2021. It was on July 4 when Anna and Valentin first kissed on the Quartermaine terrace, but fans saw the potential for this pair when they first shared the scenes explaining Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) alleged origin.

The chemistry was apparent during that one intense episode when Anna learned she had another child, but of course, we later learned that Peter was not her son after all. Still, Finola Hughes and James Patrick Stuart showed how amazing they could be working together after first meeting when they were in their 20s.

“For me, it was a day when we were shooting really late at night and it all comes out that I’d had this baby,” Hughes said in the February 20, 2023, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “James had tons of dialogue — he was basically telling the story and I was reacting. It went quite well and it was very emotional.”

General Hospital Updates – Flash Forward Four Years

By 2022, Anna and Valentin felt like the star-crossed lovers we remember from the 1980s with secrets between them, as well as longing. Valentin spent the first half of 2022 not wanting Anna to know he was doing Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) dirty work due to Victor keeping Charlotte Cassadine (Amelie McLain) captive at a boarding school.

“I also liked that episode when Valentin was still lying to Anna about Charlotte’s precarious situation with Victor and we were sitting out by the pool,” Stuart told Digest. “There was an opportunity for him to be honest and on paper, it was just ‘And Valentin lies again.’ That’s a classic example of Finola and I saying, ‘Let’s talk the night before.'”

That is what they did and they added an underlying subtext to the scene in which Anna knew Valentin was lying but was also still drawn to him. Now, there seems to be complete honesty between Vanna, but we all know that can change in an instant, especially if one of their daughters finds themselves in danger.
