Kudos to TPTB for this character recast. Stephen Nichols (Tucker) is an outstanding actor and was the most recent edition of Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper). However, his iconic and current role (Steve ‘Patch’ Johnson) on Days of our Lives created the need for a replacement.

St. John’s demeanor offers a fresh take. His snarky persona strikes a balance between a troublemaker and a wounded soul.

Tucker desperately wants to reconcile with Ashley and create a lasting relationship with his son, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). But Tucker’s many burned bridges and the continuance of his patterns prevents everyone from believing he intends to change.

The Young And The Restless Updates – Ashley Abbott And Devon Hamilton Are Significant

Tucker needs Ashley and Devon’s help to become the person he wants to be. They seemingly do not recognize that need or do not want to help him based on his backstory.

Ashley allowed herself to begin falling for Tucker again. She was outraged when Devon dressed his father down regarding the Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) plant inside Chancellor-Winters.

Devon told Tucker he wants nothing to do with him and will let everyone in GC know that he is a rat. Similar to his response to Victoria, Tucker was not persuaded to give up. Instead, he reinforced his belief in the long game.

Billy Abbott Appoints Himself Again

Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) appointed himself Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) defender. That was compassionate and wise.

Thompson’s character is dealing with his relationship break from Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and potentially shifting to a romantic bond with Chelsea. That reality helped to spark Billy’s defense of Victoria, as he also told Tucker to back off and get out of town.

One of Tucker’s greatest strengths is that he is tough. Some see that as defiance and self-promotion. But he does not care what the Victoria’s and Billy’s of the world think.

As long as Tucker reclaims ties with Ashley and establishes a father-son relationship with Devon, St. John’s edition of Tucker will win on Y&R.
