The Young and The Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) may make an unexpected decision about her surprise pregnancy. She wants to keep it a secret from both Nick and Adam Newman (Joshua Morrow, Mark Grossman) until she decides, and she may decide the best thing is to terminate.
Sally’s not ready to be a mother, even though she loves children; she gets along great with Adam’s little boy, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). But she is torn once her pregnancy test comes out positive because it’s just not the right time for her to be a mom. Besides, she doesn’t know who the father is, Adam or Nick, and what if the baby inherits Adam’s mother’s genetic disease that Connor had to have a cornea transplant for?
Sally quite definitely wants to be a mom someday, but right now may not be a good time. She’d rather be settled down, comfortable in her career, and married to a good man before she starts a family.
Sally’s glad that she has a female friend, someone she can talk to about this-that’s a first for Sally. She knows that Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) will be supportive no matter what she decides and that she’ll give her good advice. She’s learned a lot about her since they have worked together, and she does know that she lost a child in an automobile accident Adam was involved in.
But she doesn’t think that would color any advice about terminating the pregnancy or not, although Sally realizes it could be a sensitive subject. One plus is that Chloe grew up as the daughter of a single mother, and she can lend some additional perspective from experience.
As for Sally’s upbringing, she was raised, along with her sister Coco Spectra (Courtney Grosbeck) by their grandmother, Shirley Spectra (Patrika Darbo). Their parents were circus performers on the road all the time and she and Coco barely remember them. At least Sally’s baby won’t be raised like that – but there are many things to consider, the least of which is whether to hire a nanny or bring them to work. One thing Sally knows for sure – giving him or her up for adoption won’t be an option for her, she’d be too attached at the birth.
She talks to Chloe, and she advises her if she thinks she may want to terminate not to wait too long. Sally may not want to give the baby up, which could create many complicated situations if she waits until she feels it moves the first time.
