General Hospital (GH) spoilers and rumors tease that Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) tragic attack by the hook may be Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) salvation. While Britt may not be able to donate bone marrow due to the toxins imparted by the Hook’s snake venom, her hospitalization may lead to a familial match!
Britt’s Huntington’s Disease would not be a problem for donating bone marrow, but the snake venom in her body would. Huntington’s patients can donate both bone marrow and blood because those are not affected by Huntington’s genes, only brain cells. This works much like Alzheimer’s Disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, the disease is genetic and attacks the brain.
But because of her disease, Britt may not have looked into bone marrow donation even though she was Willow’s obstetrician; on the other hand, she may have. She certainly would not have suspected that she and Willow are first cousins once removed through Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) however, because there was no reason to suspect it.
It looks like as Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) was on her way to Britt’s party, Britt already having left and intending to never return to Port Charles, Britt saw the Hook. The Hook was approaching a terrified Josslyn as she cowered, and Britt took action to stop her; no doubt frightening the Hook away, Josslyn helped Britt as she could. Later, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) questions a patient at General Hospital and that could be either Josslyn or Britt, looking for leads on the Hook’s identity. But tragic news soon spreads through Port Charles once again, as Britt likely dies; saving Josslyn, she doesn’t make it herself, but her medical records may save Willow. Britt didn’t want anyone at work to know she was suffering from the genetic disorder, and her initial testing wasn’t done at GH and her more recent tests were sealed.
After Britt dies, Willow will get an important call, and she and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) will be summoned to talk to Dr. Terry Randolph (Cassandra James). This can only be about an emerging potential bone marrow donor, and considering bone marrow can be harvested from deceased persons, Britt may be a match. Through more exact typing and testing, including DNA matching, not only may Britt’s bone marrow save Willow, it may be discovered she was a familial match.
Very soon, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) will be flabbergasted, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) defends her actions and Nina is in for a shock! Britt’s tragedy may be Willow’s salvation through a bone marrow match, and Nina may gain a new daughter.
