Nicole is close friends with Paulina’s husband Abe Carver (James Reynolds). Nicole knows that Abe has been concerned about Paulina and Chanel. Nicole believes that Sloan could use Eric to find a way to go after Paulina and Chanel. Nicole knows that Sloan is a lawyer who represents questionable clients. Sloan knows that Nicole had hoped to be able to reunite with Eric. Nicole and Eric had tried to find a way to get back together. Nicole had decided that she would leave her husband Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). Eric wanted to break up with his girlfriend Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu). Eric and Nicole had found out that Jada was going to have Eric’s child. Jada had been unsure about the pregnancy. Nicole had talked to Jada about the potential problems that Jade would have as a single mother. Jada decided that she would end her pregnancy after her talk with Nicole. Eric found out that Jada had ended her pregnancy after talking to Nicole.

Eric blamed Nicole for Jada’s decision to end her pregnancy. Eric has wanted to keep his distance from Nicole. Eric has found that he can turn to Sloan. Eric needed Sloan to take care of Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater). Eric had hoped to help Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) deal with Rachel’s mother Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) because Kristen had blackmailed Brady. Kristen knew that Brady had wanted to help Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), Dr. Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans), and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) because Orpheus AKA Milo Harp (George DelHoyo) had infected them with a deadly toxin.

Kristen had a way to produce an antidote for the toxin. Kristen wanted to be in Brady and Rachel’s lives and had used the antidote as leverage against Brady. Eric and Brady had hoped to get the antidote from Kristen because Marlena, Kayla, and Kate had gotten sick again. Eric was upset that Kayla and Kate succumbed to the toxin. Eric is worried that Marlena will not recover because Marlena is his mother. Eric has been able to turn to Sloan to help him deal with his concerns about Marlena. Sloan has wanted to find a way to help Eric. Sloan believes that Eric does not need to deal with his problems with Nicole. Sloan wants Nicole to leave Eric alone.
