The Young and the Restless (Y&R) fans are divided over whether Diane Jenkins has been pulling a long con on Jack Abbott or whether she really is on the up and up. One man seems to know and that is the man who plays Jack himself.

For months, all that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) have wanted to do is prove that Diane (Susan Walters) had to be pulling one over on Jack and they do still believe that but Jack doesn’t and that is causing trouble between Jack and these three women who love him in their own way.

In fact, Jack is absolutely furious with them at the moment — especially Phyllis — and put them on notice. He actually did expect this behavior from Phyllis, but not from his ex-wife Nikki and sister, Ashley. The fact that all three women have been conspiring against Diane for so long and quite possibly put all their lives in danger has Jack furious, but Phyllis is one person who refuses to give up.

The Young And The Restless Updates – At Least Peter Bergman Believes Diane

Whether Diane is on the up and up with her Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) story remains to be seen, but one person who does trust that Diane is telling the truth about everything that has happened to her over the last 10 years is Peter Bergman.

“She’s just trying to redeem herself with the only two people in town she gives a shit about,” Bergman said in the December 19, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest.“That’s a good story arc and we have Susan playing it. That’s an easy sell for me and I just think it’s great television. The redemption of Diane Jenkins is a long-term story. It’s not, ‘What are we going to do in a few months?’ This is a long-term effort.”

While Bergman admits that Diane might be manipulating other people in Genoa City, she is not doing that with the two men she loves.

“She’s manipulative, she’s cagey, and she’s sometimes nasty but with Jack and Kyle, the audience sees absolute sincerity. She’s not working them. She’s not manipulating them.”
