General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) is a well-intentioned woman who has made some questionable decisions from time to time in the name of loving her family. She knew when Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) came back into Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) life, there might be some questions about what happened when he left. Somehow, Marshall managed to make it look like being diagnosed with Schizophrenia and suffering from a mental health disorder was part of the reason he fled the family home all those years ago, leaving his sons behind to wonder about him forever.

That should have been good enough, but Curtis recently sought genetic counseling, and the result of his screening tests showed he didn’t inherit any of the ten possible markers for Schizophrenia from his father — a statistical anomaly. Since then, Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) can’t stop thinking about how strange that was, and she’s relentless to figure out an explanation for it.

The more that Portia keeps sniffing around Marshall and questioning his healthcare goals, the more annoyed he’s becoming. Portia is a doctor, and she’s going to be his daughter-in-law. Why does she want him to seek genetic testing so badly? When Portia bumped into Stella and Marshall at the hospital recently, they were just leaving Stella’s checkup — a regular part of her post-stroke healthcare routine. Marshall’s demeanor was perfectly fine until Portia once again brought up the idea of him seeking genetic testing to confirm which markers he has for Schizophrenia — or that he even has the disorder altogether. Stella seemed taken aback by Portia’s proposition, and almost rattled by the idea of anything about Marshall’s genetics coming to light. What’s the big deal? Portia is worried that she might know.
