25 Years Of Elizabeth On General Hospital: Rebecca Herbst Weighs In On Liz’s Loves

General Hospital (GH) spoilers and updates tease that star Rebecca Herbst has been bringing Elizabeth Webber to life for 25 years as the actress celebrates her quarter of a century with the soap this week.

General Hospital Spoilers – Elizabeth Webber Has Had Many Loves

Although Lucky Spencer (played through the years by Jonathan Jackson, Jacob Young, and Greg Vaughan) was Elizabeth’s first love and consumed her life off and on from her teenage years through her motherhood years, he was certainly not the only man she loved.

Liz also married Ric Lansing more than once and was willing to do almost anything at one time to be with Jason Morgan, the father of her middle son, Jake (Hudson West). She even thought she had Jason back and one time and almost married him under the name Jake Doe. Of course, he turned out to be Drew Cain and is now played by Cameron Mathison after Billy Miller left the role.

General Hospital Updates – Rebecca Herbst Loved Elizabeth’s Loves

To celebrate her 25 years with the soap, Herbst weighed in on several of her leading men through the years.

“I wish he still lived in California,” Herbst said of Rick Hearst, who played Ric Lansing, Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) half-brother in the August 9, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “I loved working with him and we had great chemistry together. That was a really fun time for me. Another super-generous non-judgemental, really present screen partner.”

Before Ric came into her life, Elizabeth had a brief fling with Zander Smith, who fathered her oldest son, Cameron. Chad Brannon played Zander and even made a ghostly appearance in 2021.

“When he came back last year, I wasn’t in his scenes and I didn’t even know that he was on set and then all of a sudden I hear ‘Becky?’ and I turn around and it was like somebody just threw me backward 20 years. It was just so nice to see him,” Herbst told Digest. “We had a lot of fun together even though our story was short-lived.”

And then there was Nikolas Cassadine, Liz’s best friend since high school and Lucky’s brother. Liz didn’t mean to fall for Nik, but it did briefly happen.

“Nikolas was a staple in Elizbeth’s life for many, many years and they had a beautiful friendship,” Herbst said. “The writers decided to take it in a direction I know many of the fans weren’t happy with, but Tyler and I were up for the challenge and when they had an affair, we tried to make play it as organically as possible.”
