Why Days of Our Lives’ Lani And Eli Had To Go

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal a Salem without The Grants, Eli Grant, and Lani Price Grant, that is.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Goodbye To Elani

Friday, July 1, 2022, was the last DAYS fans saw Lani and Eli for a while and maybe even forever. Eli is the one who made the decision that Lani should serve her prison sentence for killing TR Coates (William Christian) out of Salem lest Vivian Alamain (last played by Linda Dano) tries to kill her. Let us not forget that it was Lani who killed Vivian’s son, Stefan O. DiMera (Brandon Barash), in the line of duty and Vivian has wanted revenge ever since.

So, out of nowhere, Eli picked up the twins and left town with Lani, leaving fans and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) devastated, but it was the actor’s choice to leave the soap.

Days Of Our Lives Updates – At Least Lani And Eli Are Together

DOOL Head Writer Ron Carlivati remained pragmatic about the loss of these two stars, Sal Stowers and Lamon Archey, and characters.

“Lamon has been super busy on other shows. He’s getting lots of work, which is great, and both he and Sal elected not to sign a new deal,” Carlivati said. “So, again, we decided that they’re going to leave town after Lani confesses her part in her father’s death, and it becomes a question of what’s going to happen to her.”

In fact, Carlivati has been dealing with a lot of actors either not wanting to sign new contracts while others who were working as recurring didn’t fit the show’s schedule. That includes Victoria Konefal who played Ciara Brady Weston and Marci Miller, who played Abigail Deveraux DiMera.

“So many of your favorites are still here to watch, but yes, it is always painful to lose one person, let alone a few at once. We will introduce one or two new people, which you’ll see. We’re in no way trying to replace who goes, but does open up the canvas a little bit. And like I said, we love these people, and dead, alive, in prison, whatever it might be, we never say never and the door’s always open for them to come back.”

Stay tuned to Days of Our Lives weekdays to see what other new characters show up.
