The Young and The Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Kelsey Wang is happy to be representing the Asian American community with her current role as Allie Nguyen on The Young and the Restless. Wang joined the cast of the CBS daytime drama earlier this year in a contract capacity and has been doing an exceptional job. As aforementioned, she is ecstatic to represent now that AAPI month has come to an end she shared a very valued Instagram post.
She sharted out, “June 1! Yesterday was the last day of AAPI Heritage Month.” Wang went on to open up about her past and how she presently feels. “There was a time growing up when I really struggled with being Asian American. I felt so different and wanted to hide my culture and who I was. I wanted so badly to JUST BELONG.”
“Today, I know my differences make me who I am & I am on a journey every day to express my voice more and more. I am not there yet, but I am proud to have infused what I can and what I know into Allie so far. For everyone who has reached out in the past few months, thank you for all your support. It means the world to me.”
Wang’s role in Y&R is very important as it includes the representation of Asian Americans. Her first soap role however was as Daisy Kwan back in 2018. This was only a recurring role and she was last seen on the show in 2020. With her major role on Y&R, she is now a prominent part of the representation among daytime soap actors. Wang joins Cassandra James who plays Dr. Terry Randolph in the fight to successfully represent those in the Asian American community.
Her character, Allie is the son of Keemo Abbott (Philip Moon) and is a part of the legacy family The Abbotts as she is the granddaughter of Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).
