The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) has been trying to tell herself that Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) is part of the past. But her mind and heart disagree.

Ashland opted to remain in Genoa City, Wisconsin after Victoria betrayed his trust. Her claims of wanting to make a fresh start away from Genoa City, Wisconsin, and her family, were lies.

But Ashland’s faked terminal illness far outweighed Victoria’s defensive response. So, their actions did not cross each other’s out.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Going Forward, Instead Of Backwards

Teasers indicate that Victoria will pursue a reunion with Ashland in the future. Assuming she follows through on her intentions, Victoria will need to tag her decision as moving forward rather than going backward.

Indeed, Ashland is not the man he used to be, with a wink toward the original Ashland being portrayed by Richard Burgi. Robert Newman quickly made the character his own and appears to project to be a long-term cast member.

Fans can only assume TPTB chose this particular daytime veteran because the arc of Heinle’s character includes Ashland.

The Young and the Restless Updates – Reacting To the Newman Family

Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) opposition to Ashland is different than his approach to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Ashland is a threat, whereas Billy is seen as a reckless fool.

Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), and even Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) are all opposed to Ashland. That makes him a sympathetic figure in the back of Victoria’s current mindset.

So, the Newman family’s united opposition is not serving to open Victoria’s eyes but to cause her to reconsider if he has changed.

Ashland Locke Is A New Man

Christian Miller, Victor’s birth name, famously changed his name to Newman, meaning that he was a new man. Ashland did the same, albeit under different circumstances, when he assumed the name of his best friend, leaving Bobby DeFranco behind in a fiery car crash.

A soapy coincidence allowed a three-car crash to serve as Ashland’s latest metamorphosis. That wreck sadly led to Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) death. However, Victoria’s transformation was sparked that day as well.

While she has not yet reconciled her thoughts and feelings, Victoria is on the way to doing so. If, as projected, she decides to reconcile with Ashland, Victoria will learn whether their second time is the charm.
