The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that the significance of sound mental health has never been more important. The world is experiencing a multi-year pandemic that has uprooted routines, families, and lifestyles. Actor Zach Tinker (Fenmore Baldwin) has also starred as Sonny Kiriakis on Days of our Lives’ programming on Peacock and he recently talked to Soap Hub about the importance of mental health.
The soap mag started off by asking the handsome and talented star if he has any New Year’s resolutions. It is that time of year, and now is the perfect time to devote energy to achieving goals. What will Tinker work on in the coming year?
He replied, “I’d like to work on my mental health. I want to be nicer to myself and not put so much pressure on myself. I want to be with myself more. That might be a deeper answer than you’re expecting.”
He went on to talk about the lingering stigma surrounding mental health discussions. “I think we naturally don’t treat it the same way we do physical health. If you break your leg, and your bone is sticking out, you think, ‘Oh, I should probably go to the doctor. But it’s very easy to ignore depression, sadness, and stuff. I’ve dealt with that and I’m sure most people have. It [may be] easy to put it to the side and trudge through but [showing yourself] kindness and taking time for yourself is super-important.”
The actor cautions against “overanalyzing” oneself but does find the value in spending time alone to reflect. “You can discover things about yourself and who you are,” he suggests.
He added, “When you sit with your thoughts long enough, you can think of things that aren’t true. Isolation is good to an extent but we’re social beings and we need to interact.”
Recently he dropped by the Y&R set to do just that, socialize and interact. He sought out his Y&R dad Christian LeBlanc and congratulated him on playing the character of Michael Baldwin for 30 years. Will Zach be back as Fenmore? We’ll keep you posted as news becomes available.
