The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) had a thought-provoking conversation with her newer friend, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). Through it, Phyllis realized that yes, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) does have a deeper meaning in her life than she realized.
Jack has been sidelined for what seems like the longest stretch of his periods of bachelordom. Once holding the title as Genoa City, Wisconsin’s greatest playboy, today’s version of Jack is not the so-called best version of himself. And with that newer cliché, the teased reboot of Phack is furthered.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) did not want to be with Phyllis (as then played by Gina Tognoni). So, he kicked her out of his house. That setting, which included a cool, visual homage to The Underground, is no longer seen on Y&R, with Phyllis’ Grand Phoenix Hotel suite having served as Phick’s base of countless conversations and other things.
Phyllis began feeling that Nick was drifting away from her earlier this year. She has since been proven right, though Nick did not recognize where his mind was flowing during that process.
The latest, exaggerated Newman family problems pulled Nick into the whirlwind, or he allowed himself to be swept in. With whatever the case, he was unnerved, Phick battled for a few weeks, and that was that.
Logically, Jack knows that it would be a risk to couple with Phyllis again. She has returned to Nick on several occasions and would not have split from him now, except for Nick’s provocation.
However, what Jack told Phyllis at the Abbott mansion was true. She remains the love of his life, and he has never gotten over her.
Jack hopes that a big enough piece of Phyllis’ heart exists to allow a Phack reboot to happen. It is a Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) type gamble, but one that Jack likely will make. His feelings for this one particularly unique lady will be countered if he chooses not to.
Phyllis did not approach what was the latest edition of Phick as she had the pairings that came before. She was cautious, considerate, and nowhere near as demanding as Nick experienced in soapy days gone by.
This most recent experience creates a problem. How does Phyllis approach another edition of Phack? She knows that past efforts failed while also seeing that a fresh approach did not work with Nick.
However, Jack has been and remains more mature than Morrow’s character. Along with that fact, Phyllis should enter, if she actually does, with no pressure. Both halves of Phack will need to show up if it is meant to revive and survive.
