Hallmark spoilers and updates tease that the channel’s annual Countdown to Christmas programming event will commence with a movie that stars Jordin Sparks.
Sparks will play Lou in the film titled A Christmas Treasure. Her character is a small-town girl who discovers a 100-year-old time capsule that contains her grandfather’s journal.
In the movie’s official description, Lou will ask herself “whether she should move to New York after Christmas to further her writing career or stay in Pine Grove to carry on her family’s local newspaper.”
Lou will come across a charming chef named Kyle (Michael Xavier), who’s visiting Pine Grove for the holiday season. Lou and Kyle will both be at crossroads but they’ll find themselves helping each other on their journeys.
“When Lou and Kyle meet, they both have doubts about their future, but the magic of the holiday season — and the connection they have — helps each of their journeys,” as per the movie description.
A Christmas Treasure will feature Spark’s Oh, It’s Christmas song, which is one of the tracks included in her 2020 holiday album titled Cider & Hennessy. She’ll also be showcasing her vocals in the flick because she’ll be singing her own rendition of This Christmas and Oh Holy Night.
In an interview, Sparks said that she’s excited to share this movie since she loves the holiday season. She’s thankful for getting to perform some of her favorite Christmas songs especially since it’s her first time to do so in a movie. It’s a dream come true for the American Idol winner to join the Hallmark family and she’s proud to say that her upcoming movie is an excellent representation of the phrase, “Home is Where the Heart is.”
There’s no news yet as to when A Christmas Treasure will premiere but for now, fans can enjoy Hallmark Channel’s Christmas in July. The network features romantic comedies throughout the month of July. Some of the titles to watch out for are On the Twelfth Day of Christmas, Once Upon a Christmas Miracle, Christmas Under Wraps, Crashing Through the Snow, Christmas Getaway, Holly & Ivy, and Reunited at Christmas.
Christmas in July has been a success. Randy Pope, the senior vice president of programming and development said, “Christmas in July was an immediate hit and the franchise has continued to build momentum as more people discover the programming event each July.”
