The Young and The Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that viewers will recall that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) already sought forgiveness from Detective Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) for poisoning him in the process of her confession. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Chelsea seemed to be in together on a plot that cleared Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) from the charges but didn’t put Chelsea in jail. It was clear to viewers of The Young and The Restless that Victor had forced her into this confession with the threat of taking her son with Adam, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) away from her.
But Chelsea did wind up in a mental health facility with the help of a psychiatrist who Victor had paid, and paid well, to get her in there. Chelsea likely will not want to be there for very long! After all, how does Chelsea really know that Victor and Adam won’t take Connor’s custody away from her anyway? A stay in a mental institution is an excellent start for a custody battle, proving her an unfit mother on account of mental illness! Who would she call for help?
Certainly not the police, there wouldn’t be any way to get around that confession she made even if she was able to prove it was coerced! Chelsea has no proof that she could provide, she was too scared of what Victor might do to try to even get a recording on her cell phone, and besides, he had an eagle eye on her the whole time! Chelsea’s plea for forgiveness is likely targeted at Adam.
Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall also that Adam was very hurt by Chelsea’s attempt to frame him for the thallium poisoning of Rey Rosales. Obviously, he was glad that she confessed when Victor came to tell him in the hospital as he was recovering from donating one of his kidneys to his niece, Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster). Victor told him about Chelsea confessing everything and that she had “a nervous breakdown” and was in a mental health facility, but also that she had claimed Adam and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) had been having an affair upstairs before her eyes – which he denied.
Chelsea should know that confessing and apologizing to those she has wronged won’t get her “good time” in a mental health facility like it might in a prison. “Good time” is a reduction in prison sentence time for good behavior.
She may produce some tears when she asks Adam for his forgiveness, which he will likely give her since he is truly trying to be a new man with a fresh start. But viewers of The Young and The Restless, as well as Adam, may not believe her – if she is willing to lie and pull con jobs to the extent she did to frame Adam, she may not care about his forgiveness at all and it may just be a ploy!
