Emily In Paris spoilers and updates tease that the show that took its fans to the wonderful city of Paris announced the renewal of the series even before the first season of the show spent two weeks on the streaming platform.
The announcement by Netflix that their popular original series will be back for another batch of episodes in the near future was all the news it could provide to the fans of the show at the time.
Later on, it was confirmed that shooting for the show will likely begin in late April and run through the summer. So at least now we know when the show will not be dropping, when it is actually set to premiere on Netflix is still a mystery. Pucker up, we still have some exciting news.
The original Netflix series Emily in Paris premiered in October last year with 10 episodes and was quickly picked up for renewal around two weeks later. The relatively fast announcement of its renewal is a sure sign that the show performed well. And since the show’s release, we have seen the fashion in the series get duplicated across the fashion world.
Emily in Paris tells the story of a 20-something-year-old who moves to Paris for a last-minute career opportunity and sees her navigating the hard sides of life and her career in order to live her dream.
The show has a lot of cheesy bits in it, which fans don’t seem to mind, and though it was blasted earlier on as portraying the people of France in a stereotypical manner, the show enjoyed a successful debut.
Now fans are counting clues and days to be able to get back to Paris with their lead character, Emily, played by Lily Collins, and make some fun new memories.
So far, there is only one teaser for the Season 2 of the show, probably shot during the pandemic as each of the actors was isolated. They happily shared the words “Deux is better than Un.”
As for the cast, series creator Darren Star confirmed that all the original characters will be returning in Season 2 of the show. During an interview with Oprah Magazine last November he announced that Lily Collins, Lucas Bravo, Camille Razat, and Ashley Park will all be back, as will the Savoir employees Philippin Leroy-Beaulieu, Samuel Arnold, and Bruna Gouery.
Star talked about Emily’s character development in the second season citing that she will be able to blend more into the city’s life, becoming more of a resident of the city and she’ll be getting more stability in her life than she did in the first season. “She’s making a life there,” he added.
In a different interview with E! News he further shared tidbits of the upcoming episodes, saying that he thinks that “Emily has some surprising tough choices. The show’s so much about the culture undermining her expectations of how things are and how things seem. And everything will not be as it seems. It’s always about challenging her American worldview. We certainly have a lot of forks in the road and a lot of places to go.”
In Ashley Park’s interview with Oprah Magazine, she discussed her character’s role saying that she’s game for whatever role her character, Mindy, gets to play in the next season, adding that she trusts that Mindy’s life is in good hands. She also expressed enthusiasm to see Mindy getting a romantic partner and her love life is explored.
Collins also spoke about Park’s onscreen character Mindy and what she foresees for her: “I’m excited for Mindy to move into the apartment building because I feel like that’s going to cause some mayhem. I just think she’s going to throw a wrench into the situation, and I’m imagining apartment game nights or something.”
There’s one thing that Collins is sure of about her character’s future and it is the love triangle between Emily, Gabriel, and Camille, which she believes will play a big role in the upcoming Season.
As for the romance between Emily and Camille, Collins thinks it’s possible: “There are tons of little moments where you’re like, ‘… Does Camille like Emily?’ You can’t really get a vibe, and I feel like that ambiguity is what keeps Emily intrigued.”
“I feel like the next season will only create more love triangle drama, although maybe Emily will have a little bit of a stronger handle on the situation,” she continued. “Or maybe not.”
A fictional memo was released by the show getting a Season 2 run. The memo from Sylvie (Leroy-Beaulieu) reads: “Despite her overconfident manner and lack of prior experience in luxury goods marketing, she has nonetheless managed to charm some of our hard-to-impress clients during her short time at Savoir,” it reads. “Call it Bonne chance, or American ingenuity — I’m leaning towards the former — her results are impressive. We love having Emily in Paris! But please don’t let her know that.”
One thing is certain, though we don’t know if the memo is purely a joke or contains clues to the upcoming season, we do know one thing: Season 2 will be cheesy as well.
